I recently stayed at Kyoto Hostel Zen for a few days and had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing great suggestions for things to do in the area. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the showers were modern and refreshing. The location of the hostel was perfect, just a short walk away from the main food and shopping markets. Additionally, the hostel had a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal choice if you plan on exploring most of the time. The common room had all the facilities I needed for cooking, which was a nice bonus. I highly recommend Hostel Zen for its helpful staff, cleanliness, location, and peaceful atmosphere.
I do recommend this hotel.

The hostel is situated in a perfect location close to a variety of eateries and easy access to public transportation. the staff is exceptional, going above and beyond to help guests and provide recommendations for local attractions. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with the option for a mixed or female-only dorm. the facilities, including the kitchen and chill area, provide a great space to socialize and relax after a long day of exploring.
One minor downside is the lack of a washing machine on-site. Guests may need to find alternative options nearby or at a nearby hotel.

The hostel provided very clean and cozy facilities, making my stay comfortable. The staff was always very helpful and accommodating. The location was great, as it was close to major tourist areas and provided easy access to transportation. they offered free soap and other amenities which made my stay more convenient.
The lockers provided were small and not ideal for larger backpacks or personal items. , the shower took some time to warm up, which was a bit frustrating.

We loved the spacious capsule-like beds with privacy curtains, lights, plugs, and shelf. The bathrooms and showers were incredibly clean, and the water pressure was great. The hotel facilities were top-notch, including laundry facilities, bike rental, and luggage storage after check-out until 9pm. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, even making restaurant reservations for us.
Almost perfect.

The hostel had a vending machine in the common area and the showers were clean and offered free toiletries. the location was great, just a few minutes away from the main shopping area and loads of food options. the staff are also friendly and helpful, it's nice to have that personal touch when traveling alone.
The beds were extremely uncomfortable and thin, which made it hard to get a good night's sleep. if you're looking to meet new people and socialize, this is not the place to be.

Hostel Zen in Kyoto exceeded my expectations during my recent business trip. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the friendly staff who ensured my check-in process was smooth and efficient. The hotel offers various recreational opportunities, including a traditional Japanese tea ceremony experience, which allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture and unwind after a long day of meetings. the tranquil Zen garden provided a peaceful retreat where I could relax and clear my mind. The attention to detail and thoughtful amenities throughout the hotel made my stay truly enjoyable.
There was nothing I didn't like.
